Dear Sir:

In response to IE Bulletin 79-OlA concerning the use of ASCO solenoid valves in safety-related systems at the Trojan Nuclear Plant, we are providing the attached information.

In the course of preparing our response to this Bulletin, we have discovered that some ASCO solenoid-piloted valves were omitted from our original IE Bulletin 79-01 submittal (Attachment 3 to our letter of June 12, 1979) and the qualification reference for ASCO solenoids is in error. To correct these oversights and errors, please replace Pages 13 through 18 of that attachment with the pages of Attachment III herein provided.

This response to IE Bulletin 79-01A is not intended to be final. This letter. will be followed, within approximately 60 days, with a list of ASCO valves that we intend to environmentally upgrade, and our schedule for performing this work.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Sincerely, C. Goodwin, Jr.
