Mr. A. Schwencer, Chief Operating Reactors Branch #1 Division of Operating Reactors U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555

Dear Sir:

This is to confirm our recent discussions with the NRC Staff concerning the timing and content of revisions of the " Report on Design Modifica-tions for the Trojan Control Building", PGE-1020, in light of additional information which has been provided in response to NRC Staff questions.

The following description summarizes past revisions of PGE-1020 and details the known subject matter of a future revision to that document:

a.

PCE-1020 was issued on January 17, 1979.

b.

Revision 1 to PGE-1020, issued on April 2, 1979, supplied new information developed as a result of continued analysis of the test results, an evaluation of wall capacities and refinement of design details for the modification.

c.

Revision 2 to PCE-1020, issued on July 20, 1979, supplied new information developed as a result of centinued refine-ment of design and construction details for the modification.

d.

Revision 3 to PGE-1020 will be issued when responses are completed to questions currently being received from the NRC Staff. That revision will include any modification in PGE-1020 necessitated by our responses to NRC Staff questions and any other modifications necessitated by refinement of design and construction details or to correct

\\

minor errors in text or figures. The only expected modi-fications to PGE-1020 that we have identified to date are

Mr. A. Schwencer September 26, 1979 Page three Revisions to PGE-1020 are not intended to include detailed information of the type provided in response to NRC Staff questions, but only to assure that PGE-1020 remains consistent with all such information, as well as with any information developed during refinement of design and construction details.

We expect to submit both PGE-1020 and our answers to NRC Staf t' ques-tions as exhibits at the Phase II hearing, as we submitted equivalent documents as exhibits at the Phase I hearing. Although we are applying our best effort to assure that PGE-1020 and the answers to NRC Staff questions are fully consistent, it is our intent that the answers to the NRC Staff questions govern in the unlikely event that any inconsistencies inadvertently arise.

Sincerely,

~
