L. Powell, T. F. Hoyle (SS) and R. 8. Samwor th of your staff, the Supply System received a dr aft copy of an NRC Generic Letter regarding inservice testing of pumps and valves. Table 1 of this draft Generic Letter identifies the revision date of the Inservice Testing ( IST)

Program applicable to WNP-2 as ll/12/86. The purpose of this letter is to request that this date be changed to reflect the revision date of the current submittal now implemented at WNP-2, submitted October 12, 1987, (Reference 4).

Page Two Inservice Testing for Pumps and Valves Back round Revision 3a'f the IST Plan was submitted to the Commission and interim approval requested on 12/26/85 (Reference 1). Interim approval to implement Rev. 3a was again requested on 3/12/86 (Reference 2) and 11/12/86 (Reference 3). The Generic Letter, references this latter date, 11/12/86, which corresponds to Rev. 3a.

Subsequently, the WNP-2 IST Program has been revised (that is Rev.

3b), submitted to the Commission, and interim approval requested on 10/12/87 (Reference 4).

Revision 3b of the IST Plan is significantly different from Revision 3a in certain areas due to recent design changes to the plant and unforeseen problems encountered during the testing of certain valves.
