Document Control Desk Washington, D.C.

20555 Gentlemen:

Subject:

NUCLEAR PLANT NO. 2, OPERATING LICENSE NPF-21 WITHDRAWAL OF REQUEST FOR AHENDHENT TO TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 3.8.1.1, AC SOURCES REDUCING EXCESSIVE TESTING OF DIESEL GENERATORS

Reference:

Letter, G02-90-037, GC Sorensen (SS) to NRC, same subject, dated Harch 2, 1990 The reference requested changes to the WNP-2 Diesel Generator Technical Specifications to reduce excessive testing of the Diesel Generators and thereby extend reliability.

The genesis of these changes is from Generic Letter 84-15, "Proposed Staff Action to Improve and Haintain Diesel Generator Reliability",

recent changes approved on other dockets and newly recognized provisions of this specification being approved and implemented in the Technical Specification Improvement Program.

Ifmodifications to the Technical Specification change request recently suggested by the NRC staff were to be adopted, it is apparent to the Supply System that a

reduction in diesel generator testing requirements would not result from the Technical Specification change.

The Supply System therefore withdrawals the reference change request.

Very truly yours, G.
