FITNESS FOR DUTY PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION STATUS

Reference:

Letter, G. C. Sorensen to NRC Document Control Desk, Certification of Implementation of Fitness for Duty Program, dated January 2, 1990.

The referenced letter identified certain areas of the Supply System's Fitness for Duty Program Implementation Plan which were not complete as of January 3, 1990, and committed to complete those areas by the end of January 1990.

As of this date, all items identified as incomplete on January 3, 1990, have been completed. Those items for which corrective actions were required were identified as a result of a Supply System assessment of the FFD Program in December 1989. Although not all identified deficiencies were corrected by January 31, 1990 (the last issues were completed 3/9/90),

implementation was in accordance with the specified rule.

The deficiencies identified in the 1989 assessment related to documentation and were discussed with members of the NRC staff in a meeting on January 19, 1990. Observation of the actual practice demonstrated that the program was accomplishing ,its objectives of providing reasonable assurance that Supply System and contractor personnel associated with 'l<NP-2 are reliable, trustworthy, and not under the influence, of any substance, legal or illegal, or mentally impaired from any cause which in any way adversely affects their ability to safely and competently perform their duties.
