Subject:

ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES WASHINGTON PUBLIC POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM The purpose of this letter is to advise you of the following organizational and personnel changes which have been announced at the Supply System. The following changes will be effective July 7, 1990:

~ A new directorate will be established to focus management attention on several new initiatives and important ongoing projects. Joe Burn, Director of Engineering since December 1983, will be the new Director of Projects. He will be responsible for several megawatt enhancement projects at Plant 2, aimed at, increasing the electrical output of the 1, 100-megawatt unit; continued preservation of Projects 1 and 3, including the WNP-3 synchronous condenser project to increase the reliability of BPA's Puget Sound transmission system; the Plant 2 control-room simulator program; the Hanford Generating Project, and WNP-4/5 activities.

~ Chris Powers, Plant 2 Manager since April 1985, will be promoted to Director of Engineering. Chris will be responsible for the design engineering support to WNP-2, nuclear fuels, materials, equipment engineering, as well as non-destructive testing programs.

~ Jack Baker, Assistant Plant 2 Manager since April 1985, will be promoted to Plant Manager job.

These changes are viewed as strengthening the overall operation and support of WNP-2. The areas which will become the responsibility of the Director of Projects have been the responsibility of the Director of Engineering. By pulling these functions out, into a new Directorate, the Director of Engineering will be able to focus on those functional areas which provide the design engineering support for WNP-2. The creation of the Projects Directorate provides the senior level management focus which these projects deserve.
