Sternberg, same subject.

The referenced letter transmitted the Supply System's amended response to the Notice of Violation to provide additional information requested by the Resident Inspector, during a meeting with Supply System repre-sentatives the week of' July 18, 1983. The reference letter committed to supply a status update. The attachment provides the committed Update.

It is anticipated that the sample program will be completed by September 30, 1983. A final report will be provided to your office with the re-sults of the sample program by October 15, 1983.

WASHINGTON PUBLIC POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM NUCLEAR PROJECT NO. 2 DOCKET NO. 50-397 LICENSE NO. CPPR-93 INSPECi10N REPORT 83 NOTICE OF VIOLATION INTERIM RESPONSE Corrective Action Six hundred (600) Quality Class I and 300 Quality Class II PED's have been randomly selected for this program.

The first 60 of the 300 Quality class I PED's from the initial sample have been forwarded to the respective Project Engineers for an independent reeval-uation. Estimated completion of the reevaluation of the initial sample of 60 Quality Class I PED's is September 12, 1983. Depending upon the results of the reevaluation, an additional number of Quality Class I PED's may have to be reevaluated.

Thr first 60 of the 300 Quality Class II PED's have been selected and eval-uated. Fifty-six (55) accurately depict the quality classification. Four (4) electrical PED's that are nonessential and non-safety related are ques-tionable with regard to quality classificaticn and are being reevaluated.

Estimated completion date of the reevaluation of the 4 electrical PED's is September 12, 1983. Depending upon the results of this reevaluation, an sdditional number of Quality Class II PED's aay have to be selected and reviewed.
