Theactualconcentration ofETAintheheatingboilerblowdownwas'stimated tobe630ppm,whereastheaverageETAconcentration reportedintheNPDESapplication was15ppm-Thisincidentoccurredwhenavalveconnecting thechemicalfeedsystemtotheheatingboilerrecirculation linewasalignedintheopenposition.
Theopenvalveallowedthechemicalfeedtanktoemptyintotherecirculation lineandintotheboiler.Anestimated 42lbs.ofETAweredischarged totheforebay.Inperspective, ourNPDESapplication estimated theamountofETAdischarged totheforebayas639lbs./year.
Thisvaluewasbasedonheatingboilerrunsof24hoursperdayfor15dayspermonth,whiletheactualaveragerunshavebeenlessthantwodayspermonthin1995.Therefore, thetotal.amountofETAdischarged totheenvironment remainswellbelowtheestimated annualvalues.Noadverseenvironmental orpublichealtheffectsoccurredasaresultofthisevent;'P510060042 951002,jPDRADOtK050003i5PDR',J
