Cook Nuclear Plant 219 425 2103 NPDES Permit No. MI 0005827 Prefilter Backwash Limitations A sample taken on October 31, 1988 of the prefilter backwash discharge (Outfall OOF) indicated a suspended solids (TSS) concentration of 138'g/1. The average TSS for the month of October was 59 mg/1. The operating log showed that the prefilter backwash unit was operating normally at that time.

Rough lake conditions appear to have suspended lake bottom sediments in the plant's intake water.

By copy of this letter, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is notified pursuant to the requirements of Appendix B, Part II, Nonradiological Environmental Protection Plan, ~ Section 3.2.
