Dear Mr. Morley:
As required in NPDES Permit MI0005827, Part II Section A. 5., we are providing notification ofa noncompliance.
During the hours of 1600 EST to 2055 EST on February 26, 1996, continuous pH monitoring ofOutfall 00D (Turbine Room Sump) was interrupted.
The interruption was caused by fouling ofthe pH instrumentation's glass electrode.
No adverse impact to the environment occurred during this event.
The electrode was cleaned and the pH monitor was returned to service.
A modification to replace the pH monitor and electrode housing to aid in preventing electrode fouling is scheduled to be installed in 1996. Currently, the pH monitor is checked twice daily to ensure proper operation.
