Dear Mr. Leep:
This letter confirms my conversation with your office (Laurie) on Friday, July 3 and Monday, July 6, 1987.
At 0740
- hours, June 30, the continuously monitoring Turbine Room Sump process pH meter was found to be inoperative in that the recorder pen was stuck in a
position indicating a
pH of 7.95.
A review of the recorder chart and log indicated the the Turbine Room Sump may have discharged to the absorption pond during the previous 5 hours5.787037e-5 days <br />0.00139 hours <br />8.267196e-6 weeks <br />1.9025e-6 months <br /> without continuous monitoring of the pH.
While repairs were being made the sump was allowed to empty to the absorption pond
~onl after a
grab sample of the effluent was made to verify the pH was within limits.
These grab sample values will be so indicated on the monthly DMR for July.
Repairs were completed and the meter returned to normal operation at 2240 hours0.0259 days <br />0.622 hours <br />0.0037 weeks <br />8.5232e-4 months <br /> on July 3, 1987.
By copy of this letter, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is notified pursuant to the requirements of Appendix B, Part II, Nonradiological, Eilv~iroriimiental Protect iGli P I an Section 3 ~ 2.
