With both nuclear steam supply systems out of service, the plant heating boiler was started on July 16, 1985.
A blowdown sample taken at 0600 hours0.00694 days <br />0.167 hours <br />9.920635e-4 weeks <br />2.283e-4 months <br /> on October 22, 1985 contained a
suspended solids concentration of 169 PPM.
Another sample taken at 0910 hours0.0105 days <br />0.253 hours <br />0.0015 weeks <br />3.46255e-4 months <br /> October 23, 1985 had a concentration of 195 PPM.
Since chemical treatment is made by batch addition, we believe the elevated solids level is due to chemical shock.
By copy of this letter, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is notified pursuant to the requirements of Appendix B, Part II, Nonradiological, Environmental Protection Plan, Section 3.2.
