Cook Nuclear Plant NPDES Permit No. MI 0005827 Prefilter Backwash Limitations A sample of the prefilter backwash effluent (Outfall 00F) taken on November 14, 1988 was analyzed for suspended solids and indicated 171 mg/I. The backwash unit was operating normally at that time.

Rough lake conditions appear to have stirred bottom sediments coming into the.plant's intake water.

By copy of this letter, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is notified pursuant to the requirements of Appendix B, Part Il, Nonradiological Environmental Protection Plan, Section 3.2.
