Gentlemen:

f Thank you for your letters dated April 30 and July 13, 1990, in response i to our letter dated February 27, 1990, and our telephone conversation of June 18, 1990, concerning allegations pertaining to the evaluation of a breaker failure (Load Center 106) on the cooling tower system at the Monticello NuclearGenerating. Station (AllegationRlll-90-A-0013).

in our letter and telephone conversation, we requested that you address, as a minimum, specific questions regarding the allegation and submit the results of your investigation to the NRC.

Your response indicated that Load Center (LC) 106 was a nonsafety-related i power supply and was located outside the security fence, within the o,iner l controlled area, near the cooling towers. Therefore, no quality assurence requirements were imposed for the investigation and repair of LC 106. m ,

addition, your investigation indicated that no deficiencies were identified as a result of the issues identified by the alleger. We found your investigatie sufficient to support your conclusions and we have no additional questions-regarding this matter. We request that you retain the supporting documentation for your investigation of this allegation for a minimum of one year from the date of this letter, in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
