$afeguards Section Inspection Summary Inspection on August 11-18, 1987 (Report No. 50-483/87027(DRSS))

Areas Inspected: Included a review of the circumstances pertaining to an event involving some Safeguards Information documents not being adequately protected at an offsite location, and a review of the licensee's Safeguards Information Protection Program. The inspection began during the day shif Results: One violation of NRC requirements was noted during the inspection and is addressed below:

Protection of Safeguards Information:. Several documents containing i Safeguards Information were inadequately protected at an offsite location, and were in the possession of an individual who no longer ]

had a "need to know". i The inspector's review of the licensee's Safeguards Information Protection Program identified four areas that could be strengthened to further reduce the probability of inadequate protection or unauthorized disclosure of Safeguards Information.
