This refers to the special safety inspection conducted by Mr. N. R. Williamsen of this office on October 27-31, 1986, of activities at your Hematite facility authorized by NRC Special Nuclear Material License No. SNM-33, and to the
, discussion of our findings with Mr. J. A. Rode and others at the conclusion of the inspection. '
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and interviews with personnel.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this 4
inspection.
Also discussed and agreed to during the October 31, 1986, meeting was your
- committment to mail out requests for letters of agreement or updates with the various offsite agencies that would provide services in case of a radiological i emergency. Your follow-through on that committment and the agencies' responses will be examined during the next inspection.
- In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
