Security Plan Transmittal (3 copies).

Gentlemen: l General Atomic Company submitted, ref. a, revised Security Plan covering its research reactor facilities. We were subsequently advised, ref. b, that the plan met the requirement of 10CFR50.34(c) and 10CFR73.40 and was approved. )

We were made aware that primary responsibility for the content and format of our plan rested with the office of Nuclear Material Safety & Safeguards. From this we believed that future changes, approvals, etc., were to be communicated with that office. With diligence the method was followed.

Following a recent inspection we have learned that the above practice is not i now judged adequate since we have not under separate cover notified NRR of changes to our Security Plan.

To assure compliance with the re.gulation we have agreed to submit three copies j of the current Security Plan and will provide NRR with future changes and/or requests for changes to the plan.

Please note that the GAC Physical Security Plan is now classified as " National q Security information" pursuant to certain DOE requirements. We request there- 1 fore that you destroy all of the earlier plan versions submitted to you and i that you protect the enclosed plans accordingly. Please confirm to us of the disposition of the earlier plan versions.
