Dear Mr. Adams:
General Atomics (GA) recently submitted a copy of the latest revision to its " Fixed Site and Transportation Plan for the Protection of Special Nuclear Material of broderate and Low Strategic Significance," dated July 1999 (Ref.). GA concluded that he revisions did not decrease the effectiveness of the plan and the changes were made pursuant to 10 CPR 50.34. To assist you in the review of the July 1999 version of GA's plan, GA has identified the fo!!owing revisions which impact the pottion of the plan that applies to GA's Mark I and/or Mark F TRIGA' reactors (the other changes pnrarily consist of deletions which reflect the progn:ss GA has made in its efforts to decommission facilities on its site):
Part I Section 1.1 This section was revised to indicate thr.t both the TRIGA* Mark I and Mark F reactors have been permanently shut down and the fuel removed, and that the fuel from both reactors is securely stored in the Mark F fuel storage area.
l Part I Section 2.1 This section was modified to clarify the definition of Controlled Access Areas (CAA's) in the TRIGA' Mark F ama.
Part II Section 1.3 This section was deleted because the TRIGA' Mark I has been permanently shut down and all fuel has been removed. No SNM is contained in this area.
