On Friday, February 3, 1984, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued its first safety bulletin. It ordered the inspection of five plants, and told the owners of 16 other plants now operating with the same type of General Electric manufactured boiling water reactor,to search their records for clues that would indicate a crack similar to the one found at the Georgia Power Company, Unit 2 Hatch.

The plants to be inspected include all of the plants in the listing of Domestic Boiling Water Reactor facilities with the Mark I Containment System, except for Fermi 2 and Hope Creek Units 1 and 2 Our concern is with Fermi 2, since it is similar i,n design to Hatch, Shoreham, Vermont Yankee and Browns Ferry Units where cracks have been found. Why is the Fermi Plant not being-considered for an inspection for cracks? Will there be an inspection to insure that there are no similar defects at Fermi, and approximately what would the dates be for such an inspection? Thank you for your o nsideration and cooperation.
