Dear Mr. Giambusso:

Under separate cover, we are transmitting Amendment No. 20 to the Application for Licenses for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Unit No.1. This Amendrnent consists of Revision No. 6 to the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR). Three (3) original and twenty-five (25) conformed copies of the transmittal sheet are included together with seventy (70) copies of Revision 6 to the FSAR.

This revision to the FSAR contains additional answers to questions transmitted by the Directorate of Licensing on August 28, 1973 and December 26, 1973, as well as insert changes to Volumes I thru 8 of the FSAR reflecting text revisions interfacing with responses to questions, and including miscellaneous text changes. Volume 9 of the FSAR is being issued to allow for expansions resulting from this revision.

Question 9.2.8 will be responded to before the July 5,1974, date referenced in your letter of November 23, 1973. Questions 4.4.2 and 15.2.9 require further response which will be submitted in accordance with the Babcock and Wilcox generic fuel densification evaluation program. Question 6.2.12 requires information currently unavailable from the component vendor; our response will be submitted upon receipt of that infonnation.

The information submitted thru this FSAR revision is hoped to allow the continuation of the operating license application review in accordance with your schedule of November 23, 1973.
