OF CONFERENCE CALL WITH ENTERGY NUCLEAROPERATIONS, INC., TO DISCUSS THE SEVERE ACCIDENT MITIGATION ALTERNATIVES REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR PILGRIM NUCLEAR POWER STATION (TAC NO. MC9676)On September 26, 2006, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and itscontractor from Information Systems Laboratory conducted a conference call (teleconference) with representatives from Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. (Entergy), to discuss the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station (Pilgrim) severe accident mitigation alternatives (SAMA) requests for additional information (RAIs) (ML061440026). The NRC staff formally sent the SAMA RAIs to Entergy by letter dated May 22, 2006, in support of the environmental review of the Pilgrim application for license renewal. By letter dated July 5, 2006, Entergy submitted responses to the NRC SAMA RAIs (ML0619304181). A teleconference was held on September 26, 2006, to clarify staff questions raised from the RAIs responses submitted on July 5, 2006. NRC staff asked for information regarding the total population dose risk and the reductions inpopulation dose risk for the individual SAMAs based on use of the updated core radionuclide inventory. Entergy agreed to provide this information in their next license renewal application amendment submittal. No staff decisions were made during the teleconference.
