OF PUBLIC SCOPING MEETINGS CONDUCTED RELATED TO THE REVIEW OF THE PILGRIM NUCLEAR POWER STATION, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAC NO. MC9676)The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted environmental scopingmeetings related to the review of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station license renewal applicationsubmitted by Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. (Entergy). Two public meetings were conducted on Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at the Radisson Hotel Plymouth Harbor Ballroom, 180 Water Street, Plymouth, Massachusetts. Approximately 160 people attended the meetings. Theparticipants included members of the NRC staff, NRC contractors from Earth Tech, members ofthe public, representatives from Entergy, the news media, and local government officials.
Public comments and questions were mainly focused on the license renewal process, safety and emergency preparedness, spent fuel storage and aquatic ecology.A combined list of participants for both sessions is provided in Enclosure 1. Enclosure 2 is acopy of the meeting handouts which includes the Agenda, Open House Form, Federal RegisterNotice and a copy of the slides used during the NRC's presentation. The official correctedtranscripts for the afternoon and evening meetings are available through the NRC'sAgencywide Documents Access and Management Systems (ADAMS) under Accession Nos.
