The purpose of this letter is to transmit the attached procedures for alternate safe shutdown of Donald C.Cook Nuclear Plant Unit No.1.These procedures are as follows: (2)**12-OHP 4023.100.001,"Unit 1 Emergency Remote Shutdown," Rev.0.*~1MHP2140.082.001,"Maintenance Procedure for Repowering an RHR Pump," Rev.0.(3)**1MHP2140.082.003,"Maintenance Procedure for Repowering Pressurizer Backup Heaters," Rev.0.(4)~*1MHP2140.082.005,"Maintenance Procedure for Repowering Containment Valves," Rev.0.(5)**1 THP 6030 IMP.304,"Pressurizer PORV Cable Repair," Rev.0.(6)~*1 THP 6030 IMP.305,"Appendix R Post-Fire Repowering of In-Containment Valves," Rev.0.Transmittal of these procedures was required by the November 22, 1983 NRC Safety Evaluation Report (SER)on our alternate safe shutdown methodology.

In addition to these procedures, the Technical Specifications (T/Ss)for alternate safe shutdown were required to be submitted.

These T/Ss were the subject of our letter AEP:NRC:0692AJ, dated May 30, 1986.As discussed with your staff, we are transmitting only the Unit 1 procedures at this time.The procedures for Unit 2 are basically the same, except for unit-specific differences.
