indiana Michigan Power Company P.O. Box 16631 Columbus, OH 43216 AEP:NRC:1122 GL 90-01 Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-315 and 50-316 License Nos. DPR-58 and DPR-74 RESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER 90-01'RC REGULATORY IMPACT SURVEY, GENERIC LETTER 90-01 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn: Document Control Desk Washington, D.C. 20555 Attn: T. E. Murley March 30, 1990

Dear Dr. Murley:

We have elected to participate in the NRC Regulatory Impact Survey as requested in Generic Letter (GL) 90-01. Our responses to the survey are contained in the attachment.

It should be noted that we have only responded to inspection, audits or evaluations, imposed on us and conducted by an outside agency.

This policy was recommended by the additional clarification information provided to us by the Nuclear Management and Resource Council (NUMARC). We also note that this additional guidance was not received until February 20, 1990, which is the reason for our later than desired March 1, 1990, submittal date.

We are pleased to participate in this survey or any other program to enhance the overall safe operation of nuclear power plants in general. The number of manhours we have attributed to each activity is as realistic as possible but only a rough estimate given that we do not normally document individual manhours expended on inspection or audit activities.

Sincerely, M. P. Ale ich Vice President ldp Attachment 900409001 5'00330 PDR AGOCK 05000315 PDC
