Serial No. 1283 August 21, 1986 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention: Mr. John F. Stolz PWR Project Directorate #6 Division of PWR Licensing-B United States Nuclear' Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555 l

Dear Mr. Stolz:

On March 9, 1983 (Serial No. 916) Toledo Edison provided a response to Mr. D. G. Eisenhut letter of February 22, 1983 (Log No. 1228) concerning Exemption Request for the Davis-Besse Head to Hot Leg Vent. In that rearonse we committed to an integral system test to demonstrate the removal of noncondensable gases from the reactor vessel head. This test is currently scheduled during September and October 1986 as part of the B&W Owners Group Multiloop Integral System Test (MIST).

! During the May 15, 1986 Project Management Group meeting for the B&W MIST program Mr. Robert C. Jones, Jr., Nuclear Engineering, Reactor System Branch requested Toledo Edison to submit the NRC for their review the test program for the head to hot leg vent line. A copy of the Test Program is attached for NRC review.
