In your August 1, 1984 letter to me, you requested a copy of the transcript of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's closed meeting on Grand Gulf Nuclear Station held on July 31, 1984.

You also requested all documents discussed and/or distributed at the meeting.

The material in which you are interested is enclosed. In addition to the transcript this includes memoranda dated July 31, 1984 by the Executive Director for Operations and the Acting Director, Office of Inspector and Auditor, and a 10 CFR 2.206 petition by Jacksonians United for Livable Energy Policy (JULEP). You have previously been furnished with copies of investigation reports on Grand Gulf prepared by the Office of Investigations (OI).

Please note that these matters have been referred to Department of Justice for evaluation of prosecutive merit. Premature release of information in the transcript, memoranda, and investigation reports could harm or frustrate the efforts of DOJ. In addition, thee Commission has not yet completed its own consideration of civil enforcement action. Accordingly, the Commission asks that these documents be held in confidence and disseminated to your staff only on a need to know basis.

JULEP's 2.206 petition, however, is a public document which may be disseminated as you deem appropriate.
