On June.'.1, 22 and 23, 1985 at approximately 0200 bours, and again on July 2, 1985 at 0835 hours, the turbine room sump process pH meter was found inoperative due to the flow control valve being closed.Upon each discovery, the valve was immediately opened restoring flow to the pH meter re-establishing continuous pH monitoring.
Duringtheperiodsthesumpwaswithoutcontinuous pHmonitoring, approximately 16,400gallons,35,700gallons,52,700gallons,and51,000gallons,respectively werepumpedfromthesumptotheplantabsorption pond.In-linepHmonitoring recordsindicateapHintherequiredrangepriortoandaftereachevent.ItisbelievedthattherequiredpHrangewasmaintained duringtheinterimperiods.Aninvestigation isbeingmadetodetermine ifa"noflow"alarmcanbeinstalled inthecontrolroomtoindicatethevalveisclosedandthemeterisinoperable.
During the periods the sump was without continuous pH monitoring, approximately 16,400 gallons, 35,700 gallons, 52,700 gallons, and 51,000 gallons, respectively were pumped from the sump to the plant absorption pond.In-line pH monitoring records indicate a pH in the required range prior to and after each event.It is believed that the required pH range was maintained during the interim periods.An investigation is being made to determine if a"no flow" alarm can be installed in the control room to indicate the valve is closed and the meter is inoperable.

On June.'.1, 22 and 23, 1985 at approximately 0200 bours, and again on July 2, 1985 at 0835 hours0.00966 days <br />0.232 hours <br />0.00138 weeks <br />3.177175e-4 months <br />, the turbine room sump process pH meter was found inoperative due to the flow control valve being closed.Upon each discovery, the valve was immediately opened restoring flow to the pH meter re-establishing continuous pH monitoring.
