The report attached to this letter was prepared by the Babcock and Wilcox Company to describe the status of action relative to their reactor vessel surveillance specimen holder tubes. Per 10 CFR 50.55(e), we previously reported on this subject on an interim basis to Dr Volgenau on May 12 and September 2h, 1976. The attach-ment is another interim report. B&W is continuing to define the corrective action which vill be taken and the safety implications of the correction to the holder tubes. It is expected that this information vill be available in May of 1977; therefore, another report, interim or final, vill be sent on or before May 31, 1977.
