Pursuant to the initial Decision df the Atomic Safety and Liebdag!
Board, oated January 15, 1971, the Atomic Emergy Couniasion has 'fewarded to the Office of the Federal Register for filing and p411 cation a metice relating to Amendment No.1 to Provisional Operating Licanoe No. DPR-22 which was issued to the Northern States Power Company on September 8, 1970, for the Monticello Nuclear Generating Unit No.1.
Provisional Operating License No. DPR-22, as previously issued, authorized Northern States to operate the reactor at power levels up to five megawatts thermal and without the reactor head in place to permit initial fuel loading nud testing.
As stated in the notice, Amendment No. I to Provisional Operating License No. DPR-22 supersedes the September 8,1970 license in its entirety. and authorizes Northern States Power Company to operate the Monticello Nuclear Generating Unit No.1 at power levels ' sot in excess of 1670 megawatts (thermal), except that Northern States shall not operate the facility at power levels in excess of five (5) megawatts thermal with
'the reactor vessel head in place until acceptable performance of the feedwater pumps has been verified in writing by the Commission.
Three copies of the License Amendment, the Notice of lasuance of Asrandment to the Provisional Operating License, and the Initial Decision are enclostd for the information of the Committee.
