RIVER BEND STATION UNIT NO. 1 - WITHDRAWAL OF AN AMENDMENT REQUEST (TAC NO. ~ 76874) -

By letter dated May 21,1990, GulfStatesUtilities'(GSU)appliedforan amendment to the River Bend Station Operating License No. NPF.47. The proposed change would allow one loop. of Residual Heat Removal to be used for ECCS and for_ shutdown cooling. By letter dated June 19, 1990,.the NRC staff informed

-GSU-that a generic study of shutdown cooling is being initiated by the staff and suggested GSU withdraw the proposed amendment. Subsequently, by letter dated July 13, 1990, GSU withdrew the amendment request. We recoireend that CSU resubmit the proposed an.endment~ following conpletion of the generic study and after GSU reviews any findings the study may reveal affecting the proposed change. This letter acknowledges withdrawal of the proposed amendment and closes the TAC number.
