MIDLAUD 162-FSAR 1.8.4.1.2 Diesel Generator Building Details of the diesel generator building are shown in Figure 3.8-55. It is a two-story, rectangular, reinforced concrete structure that houses four diesel generators and support equipment used for standby power. The walls are supported by continuous footings with bases at elevation 628'-0". Each diesel generator rests on a 6'-6" thick reinforced concrete pedestal which is not structurally connected to the building foundation for purposes of vibration isolation, fhe four diesel generators are separated from each other by firewalls. Plan dimensions cf the structure are approximately 155' x 70' with a total internal height of approximately 44 feet.

3.8.4.1.1 Service Water Pump Structure Details of the service water pump structure are given in Figures 3.8-56 and 3.8-57. It is a rectangular reinforced concrete building supported on two reinforced concrete mats "ith bases at elevations 587'-0" and 617'-0". Dimensions of the ucture are 86'-0" x 71'-11" below elevation 617'-0", and 86' x . 6' above, with a maximum internal height of approximately 62 feet. Five service water pumps and support equipment are located in the building and are each anchored by four anchor bolts attached to embedded anchor plates. The pumps are provided with direct connections to the cooling pond and cooling towers.

Two reinforced concrete retaining walls are provided along the cooling pond, adjacent to the service water pump structure and the circulating water intake structure. Details are provided in Figure 3.3-58. Two types of retaining walls are provided. The first is of counterfort type and is 41 '-6" high, with a base 25 feet wide and 3'-6" thick. A 68 foot length of wall adjacent to the service water structure, and a 59 foot length of wall adjacent to the sump are of this type. The second is of Revision 8 3.8-52a 4/78
