Lessons Learned 13

Lessons Learned General

  • Lessons learned from previous Entergy and other industry license renewal projects utilized in the RBS LRA
  • During LRA preparation, Entergy LR team incorporated experience gained from on-going participation in NEI, NRC, and other industry license renewal activities
  • Entergy LR team incorporated experience gained from participation in peer reviews of other recent LRAs into the RBS LRA (e.g., Fermi 2; WF3) 14

Lessons Learned Procedural & Logistical Lessons Learned

  • Entergy will use the Certrec document portal to make license renewal documentation and information available to the NRC electronically with remote access capability
  • Frequent coordination calls between site and corporate project teams-

- Bi-weekly status calls pre-LRA submittal

- Weekly status calls post-LRA submittal

- Additional calls conducted as needed 15

Lessons Learned Procedural & Logistical Lessons Learned

  • Audit Support

- Entergy procedure provides guidance on preparation for NRC audits/inspections based on previous LR projects

- Entergy conducts refresher training for site program owners and other personnel supporting the audits/inspections

- Entergy will use a database to track and respond to NRC questions and requests during audits/inspections

- During audits/inspections, detailed schedules updated daily are used to track NRC requests for breakout sessions, walk downs, and information 16

Lessons Learned Procedural & Logistical Lessons Learned

  • RAI Content and Logistics
  • RAI responses will be developed using Entergy procedures
  • Initial draft responses typically prepared by experienced LR team members, then sent to the site SMEs and Regulatory Assurance for final approval and concurrence
  • RAI response progress is tracked at all stages of development:

including receipt to draft preparation, final review to certification, and then submittal to NRC - to help ensure timely responses 17

Conclusion 18

Conclusion

  • RBS LRA planned to be submitted to the NRC by 5/30/2017

Guide 4.2 & NUREG-1437 - environmental review

  • LRA submittal begins a 22 - 30 month period of reviews, audits/inspections, RAI responses and other NRC interface activities 19
