On February 26, 1976, 10:30 a.m., a meetirig was held between the applicant on Nine Nile Point g2 and NRC staff concerning applicant's proposal to construct cooling towers in lieu of. orice through coo'ling presently pro-vided for in the CP (see Enclosure 1 for list of attendees).

The following is a summary of items discussed:

1. At the present time there is no formal notification of NRC staff in the docket. The applicant has not finished yet any detailed evaluation of environmental considerations.
2. There is .no safety related interaction of the proposed cooling towers and the NMP-2 plant; i.e. there is no association with the ultimate heat sink.
3. U. S. Army Corps of 'Engineers, Buffalo District, has problems with approval of construction activities relating .to the Like Ontario.
4. As a result of installation of cooling towers the cost-benefit analysis will change.
5. The applicant intends to notify NRC and provide an evaluation of the proposal in accordance with the terms of the CP.

B. Bordenick indicated that he does not believe that NRC can go forward without prenoticing for a public hearing and an amendment to the CP.

6. The applicant expects to ask for bids on'he towers in 1976.
7. Amendments to the PSAR are to be used as basis for inspection by IKE of safety related items.
