SUMMARY

OF PUBLIC MEETING On October 3, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Training Building, Oswego, NY, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public open-house to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at the James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant and Nine Mile Point Nuclear Generating Station in 2018. The open house was held in conjunction with Exelons Community Night for FitzPatrick and Nine Mile Point.

A notice of the open-house was issued September 18, 2019, and posted on the NRCs external (public) Web page. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML19261B728. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web page at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

The NRC was available to discuss its assessment of safety performance of the FitzPatrick and Nine Mile Point Nuclear Power Plants for the period of January 1, 2018, through December 31, 2018, as documented in our letters dated March 4, 2019 (ADAMS Accession No. ML19064B344 and ML19060A215). Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of the James A. FitzPatrick and Nine Mile Point Nuclear Power Plants can be found on the NRC's web site at:

Members of the public attended the open-house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding the James A. FitzPatrick and Nine Mile Point Nuclear Power Plants performance, and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
