SUMMARY
OF THE APRIL 2009 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT OPEN-HOUSE PUBLIC MEETING On April 30, 2009, at 2:30 p.m., the NRC conducted an Annual Assessment Open-House Meeting at the Scriba Town Hall in Oswego, NY. The NRC conducted the open house meeting to discuss the NRCs assessment of the safety performance of the Nine Mile Point and James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Stations for the calendar year 2008.
A notice of the open-house meeting was issued on April 6, 2009, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) web page (ADAMS Accession No. ML090960217).
The NRC presented poster boards and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Nine Mile Point and James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Stations for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2008, as documented in our letters dated March 4, 2009 (ADAMS Accession No. ML090630173 for Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station and ML090630638 for FitzPatrick Nuclear Station). The NRC poster boards presented included background on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP). Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Nine Mile Point and James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Stations can be found on the NRC's web site at:www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.
Constellation and Entergy employees and members of the public attended the open-house and were offered the opportunity to speak with the NRC staff regarding Constellations and Entergys safety performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
