EARTHQUAKE NEAR TREMONTON, UTAH At 6:44 p.m., MST, on July 3, 1989, an earthquake registering 4.5'on the ,
Richter scale occurred near Tremonton, Utah, which is located about 75 miles '
north of. Salt Lake City, Utah. Region IV contacted Idaho State University, which ;
has an AGN-201 reactor, and University of Utah, which has both an AGN-201 and a i TRIGA Mark I reactor, to determine if the earthquake had any affect on the reactor facilities. Both licensees reported that the earthquake safety interlocks on the AGN-201 reactors did not trip and that no damage occurred to the facilities. There are no uranium mill licensees in that area, and the Region IV Uranium Recovery Field Office in Denver, Colorado, has not received any
, reports regarding the earthquake from uranium mill licensees.
Neither'the licensees nor the NRC plan to issue a press release.
The states of Utah and Idaho will be informed.
