SEISMIC EVENT An c:rthquake occurred at approximately 10 miles east of Fremont, California on March 31, 1986, at 3:56 a.m. (PST). The magnitude was reported as 5.3 on the Richter Scale. As of 9:55 c m (PST), 180 after shocks of a minor nature were reported.
Tha cbove identified three research reactor facilities were contacted by the Region V staff and rcp2rted that no damage was observed at their facilities. The research reactors are located within 10, 20 and 30 miles, respectively, of the epicenter. Region V contacted Rancho Seco, thn n arest power reactor facility, which is located approximately 70 miles northeast of the cpic nter, and determined they did not feel the effects of the earthquake.
