Dear Mr. Murphy:

In accordance with the understandings which were reflected in Chairman Seaborg's letter of October 3,1963 to Admiral Karo, 1 am forwarding herewith Volumes I and II of the Facility Description and Safety Analysis Report filed by Northern States Power Company with its application for authorisation to construct and operate a boiling water nuclear reactor on its site located on the west bank of the Mississippi River, approximately three railes r;orthwest of Monticello in Wright County, Minnesota.

We would appreciate receiving the results of a review by the Coast and Geodetic Survey concerning seismological charac-teristics of the proposed reactor location which may have a bearing upon our evaluation of the suitability of the proposed site.

On the basis of our tentative schedule for this project, it would be desirable to have your report available for our use by November 1,1966. By mid-October 1966 ve would hope to be able to discuss with you the results of your preliminary evaluation.
