Dear Mr. Preston:

This is in response to the reports for the Technica and Laboratory Inspections conducted at North Anna Power Station ou October 18 and 20, 1994.

The following specific actions were taken to address the issues identified in the inspection reports:

e DMR errors for Outfalls 007 and 011

- Corrected DMR forms have been completed and submitted to your agency.

Personnel have received instruction on the proper calculation method for monthly maximum values.

e TSS filter drying times

- The TSS worksheet form has been revised to include the time the filter is removed from the drying oven.

- The procedure has been revised to include filtering of adequate sample volume to obtain a filter yield of at least 10 mg, or filtering at least 1000 ml of sample.

- The procedure revision includes increasing filter size or decreasing volume if more than 10 minutes are required to complete filtration.

- A copy of the revised procedure has been provided to your i

e oil & Grease analysis glassware preparation

- The procedure was revised to include rinsing the glassware with solvent as the last step in cleaning.

- A copy of the revised procedure has been provided to your staff.

Correction of all of the items noted during the inspection were implemented immediately and, as noted in the inspection report, documentation of the above procedure revisions was provided to the inspector during his October 27, 1994, Compliance Inspecti;n.
