SURRY AND NORTH ANNA POWER STATIONS UNITS 1 AND 2 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATIONS99-314 RO 50-280/281 50-338/339 DPR-32/37 NPF-4/7 On April 27, 1998, Virginia Electric and Power Company (Virginia Power) notified the Commission of our intent to submit license renewal applications for Surry and North Anna Power Stations.
The tentative schedule provided for submittal of these applications for Surry and North Anna Power Stations was 2003_ and 2006, respectively.
In view of the recent progress of the pilot plants for license renewal and the definition and standardization of the process, we have reconsidered both our review process and our submittal schedules for Surry and North Anna. We would propose that the Surry

and North Anna license renewal reviews be performed concurrently as a means of
/ D more efficiently applying both NRG and Virginia Power resources.
Consequently, Virginia Power intends to revise the schedule for the submittal of license renewal applications for both Surry and North Anna Power Stations to March, 2002.
We will continue to closely monitor associated industry and regulatory efforts to ~
incorporate any lessons learned into our program and submittals as appropriate. We look forward to working together with the NRG and would request a meeting in the near term to discuss the appropriate coordination of reviews for Surry and North Anna.
