Mr. R. W. Crisp.

Serial No. F95-004 Regional Director i

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission 3125 Presidential Parkway, Suite 300 Atlanta, Georgia 30340

Dear Mr. Crisp:

PROJECT NO. 6335-VA NORTH ANNA HYDROELECTRIC PROJECT STATEMENT OF DAM, OPERABILITY TESTS Pursuant to the provisions of 18 CFR 12.44(b)(2), the annual statement is hereby submitted verifying that each spillway gate has been operated at least once during the twelve months preceding the annual inspection by the FERC Regional Engineer.

The last annual inspection was conducted by Mr. J. C. Lyon, Jr. on August 22,1994. As required by 18 CFR 12.44(c)(1), the annual statement describing the intervals at which the standby emergency power was load tested during the year preceding the inspection is also provided. Verification of this information is provided on the attached form in accordance with 18 CFR 12.13.

The main dam's five spillway gates (three radial gates and two skimmer gates) were satisfactorily tested from their full open to full close positions between July 1,1994, and July 13,1994, as specified on the attached form. The gates'stop logs were in place during the performance of these tests.

During 1994, the spillway emergency diesel generator was load tested on a monthly basis in accordance with approved station procedures. Satisfactory operation of one spillway gate using power supplied by the spillway's emergency diesel generator was observed by Mr. Lyon during the August 22, 1994 inspection.

If you have any questions, please contact us.

Very truly yours, R. F. Saunders Attachments 95o228o201 95o222 DR ADOCK 0500 8
