Generic Letter 83-28, Item 4.5.2 required licensees and applicants, with plants not currently designed to permit on-line testing of the reactor trip system, to justify not making modifications to permit such testing.

By letter dated April 6,1984, you submitted a response to Generic Letter 83-28, Item 4.5.2. In our enclosed safety evaluation, the NRC staff concludes that your response to Item 4.5.2 is acceptable. Therefore, we consider Item 4.5.2 to be complete for the Perry Nuclear Power Plant, Unit Nos.1 and 2.

It should be noted that Items 4.5.2 and 4.5.3 of Generic Letter 83-28 have been assigned the NRC Technical Assignment Control (TAC) number 61707. The TAC will remain open until Item 4.5.3 is closed as well.
