This letter refers to the routine resident safety inspection conducted by

Mr. John A. Berry and Mr. Clay C. Warren during the period April 16 through  ;

May 31, 1986 at the Shoreham Nuclear Power Station, Wading River, New York.

The inspection consisted of observations of activities, interviews with per-

sonnel and document reviews. The results of the inspection are described in

the NRC Region I Inspection Report enclosed with this letter and were discussed

with nembers of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection. j

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosures i

will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room. '
