Ret Freedom of Information Act Request i

Gentlemen This is a follow-up to my Freedom of Information Act request-No.27-174. In the course of discussions with Linda Robinson,.I-agreed to narrow and refine the scope of that request in. order to- .

facilitate the NRC's search for records. Accordingly, I hereby

request the following records relating to Diablo Ca.nyon Power Plant, Units'1 and/or 2:

1. The attached transcript of an April 6, 1984 ACRS meeting refers to "a' memo from Mr. Dircks to Messrs."Denton and DeYoung, which asked for a review of the issues raised by Yin in his inspection report. . . ." Please provide'a copy of the memo by Mr. Dircks.
2. The attached letter from John B. Martin'to J.O. ..

Please provide all' inspection reports, J memoranda, correspondence and other records relating to that inspection.

3. Please provide all records relating to the work of Brookhhven National Laboratory (BNL) as a consultant to the NRC with respect to Diablo Canyon. We understand that BNL was retained on' or about October 9,1981 and provided several-reports, including NUREG/CR-2834, " Independent Seismic Evaluation of the Diablo Canyon Unit 1 Containment Annulus. Structure and Selected Piping Systems." An earlier FOIA request (No.: 83-483) requested. copies of the reports substitted by BNL. This request goes furtner and seeks correspondence between BNL and the NRC, internal NRC memoranda concerning BNL's ' work,' documents supporting or substantiating the BNL reports, and other records j relating to BNL even though they may not constitute a " report" 'as j such. j I hereby commit to pay the costs of processing this request up to $1,000.00. It'the costs'are estimated to exceed'that '

amount, please contact me in advance of _ expending any funds. l Please call me if there are any questions.  ;

1 MR. SIESS: We have heard Mr. Yin say that he and l-2 the Staff have agreed on a course of action that should be 3 carried out with the piping, both large and small bore.

4 The next item on the ' agenda then is statements by l 5

the Staff -- it says here Jim Knight and Taylor. .I guess we 4 are not going to get either one. We are going to get 7 Dick Vollmer. 1 I

1 s MR. VOLLMER: Not yet, Mr. Chairman. I would like s

to spend a couple of minutes to indicate what the peer panel to did for your edification and then we will get right to the il issues and the bottom line, which Mr. Yin bas protty much told. l 12 you about.

U The peerspanel was formed on March '29tihin responde t
