This acknowledges the receipt of your letter dated July 11, 1986, by which you transmitted Revision 2 to the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS),

Units 1, 2, and 3, Safeguards Contingency Plan, dated August 30, 1983. We have reviewed the information contained in the contingency plan revision and have determined that portions of that plan are consistent with the provisions of 10 CFR 50.54(p) and are therefore acceptable. However, as indicated in the enclosure, certain other portions decrease plan effectiveness and are therefore inconsistent.with the provisions of 50.54(p). Accordingly, you are to follow your previously approved plan in regard to these items. Resubmit corrected plan page's as necessary to maintain plan integrity.

Should you want to pursue changing,the security plan with respect to the changes set forth in the enclosure as unacceptable, you should resubmit under the provisions of 10 CFR 50.90. i We find the remaining changes ' submitted by .the subject letter to be consistent with the provisions of 10 CFR Part 50.54(p). Accordingly, they are acceptable for inclusion into the plan.

The attachments to your letter are being withheld from public disclosure because they contain Safeguards Information and must be protected in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR Part 73.21.
