1999 EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS EXERCISE EXTENT OF PLAY AND OBJECTIVES

Dear Mr. Ray:

We have reviewed your letter dated July 29,1999, and the enclosed extent of play and objectives for the San Onofre Nuclear Generathg Station emergency plan exercise scheduled for October 27-29,1999.

Based on our review, we determined that the exercise extent of play and objectives are appropriate to meet emergency plan requirements. Two of the exercise objectives were discussed further with Mr. M. Gutell of your staff on August 27,1999. Mr. Gutell provided satisfactory responses.

We contacted the Federal Emergency Management Agency Region IX during our review.

Mr. R. Echavarria had no comments for us to relay to you.
