Section 1 - The purpose of this section is to ensure all control rods are fully inserted following a scram.

1.

IF fuel failure is suspected THEN PLACE the DISCH VOL VENT & DRAIN

Un; 2 e.4y - IF the ARI AUT0/ MANUAL INITIATION control switch was placed in tiie "INOP" position THEN PLACE the switch to the "AUT0" position.

NOTE To reset ARI, the reset 4 witch must be held in "RESET" position for 5 seconds.

Unit 2 only - E ARI was initiated THEN RESET ARI.

RESET RPS.

3.

DETERMINE control rod position using OD-7, Option 2 full core display, four rod group display, or RWM NUMAC.

4 IF any control rod is NOT fully inserted THEN INSERT control rods by performing the following steps a.

PLACE the REACTOR HODE SWITCH to "REFUEL."

b.

BYPASS the rod worth minisitzer, c.

INSERT control rods with the EMERGENCY ROD IN NOTCH OVERRIDE

switch.

5.

WHEN all control rods are fully insarted THEN PERFORM the following steps:

a.

NOIITY the Shift Foreman, b.

IF boron injection was cor.tnenced. THEN TERMINATE boron injection.

Section 2 - All scram valves are NOT open.

Th5 purpose of this section is to deenergize the scram pilot valve colenoids, initiate ARI (Unit 2 only), and vent the scram air header in order to open all scram l

valves.

1.

Unit 2 only - INITIATE ARI if not previously initiated.

2.

Unit 2 only - IF all scram valves are open, THEN RETURN to Flow Path Block ACRI-4 of this procedure.

3.

PLACE the following keylock RPS test chancel trip logic switches to

"TRIP" and RETURN to "NORMAL."

OBSERVE scram air header pressure on C11(C12)-PI-R013 (located

by CRD instrument zack 20 foot elevation in the Reactor Building).

IF the scram air header pressure has decreased to O psig, THEN

TETURN to Flow Path Block ACRI-4 of this procedure.

c.

CLOSE Backup Scram Valves Instrument Air Isolation Valve,

C11(C12)-F095.

RD40VE screw pipe cap on test connection for Pressure

Switch C11(C12)-PSL-3363 OR C11(C12)-PSL-3364 OR C11(C12)-PSL-N012 (locateTby CRD instrument rE k, 20 foot elevation in the Reactor Building).

e.

OPEN the instrument drain valve for the pressure switch selected in Step 8.d. as necessary, to vent the scram air header.

f.

WHEN the scram air header pressure decreases to O psig, _THEN PERFORM the following steps Ind. Ver.

/

(1) CLOSE the instrument drain valve for the pressure switch selected in Step 8.d.

/

(2) REPLACE screw pipe cap on test conntetion for the pressure switch selected in Step 8.d.

(3) OPEN Backup Scram Valves Instrument Air Isolation Valve, C11(C12)-F095.

Section 3 - h purpose of this section is to manually scram the reactor.

1.

ALLOW the scram discharge volume to drain for approximately 2 l

minutes OR until annunciator DISCH VOL HI WTR LVL CRD TRIP (A-05 1-6) cleais.

2.

Manually SCRAM the reactor.

3.

IF control rods did NOT move inward, THEN EXIT this section and EliOCEED to Flov Path Block ACRI-20 of this procedure.

4.

IF control rods moved inward, AM! the reactor is shutdown, THEN EXIT

~

tiiis section and CONTINUE in Section 1.

5.

IF control rods moved inward, AND the reactor is NOT shutdown, THEN RESET RPS.

Section 5 - A manual scram has been inserted and control rods did NOT move inward OR RPS was reset and the scram discharge volume vent and drain vaTves did NOT open.

The purpose of this section is to scram control rods with I

individual scram test switches.

1.

Unit 2 only - INHIBIT ARI by placing the ARI AUT0/ MANUAL INITIATION control switch to the "INOP" position and THEN momentarily placing the ARI RESET control switch to "RESET."

2.

RESET RPS.

3.

IF RPS CANNOT be reset, THEN CONTINUE on Plow Path Block ACRI-15 of E is procedure.

4.

INSERT control rods with individual scram test switches as follows:

OBTAIN a copy of Control Rod Position Printout (OD-7, i

Option 2).

l b.

PLACE the individual scram test switch to the SCRAM position I

~~

for any control rod NOT inserted to Position 00.

c.

WNEN the control rod reaches Position 00 OR is no longer moving inward, THEN PLACE the individual scram test switch to "NORMAL" for the affected control rod in Step b.

l d.

REPEAT Steps b and e for all control rods NOT inserted to Position 00.

IT all control rods CAN be inserted to Position 00, THEN EXIT this i

section and CONTINUE in Section 1 of this procedure.

IF all control rods CANNOT be inserted to Position 00, THEN EXIT this section and PROCEED to Flow Path Block ACRI-21 of this procedure.

Section 6 - RPS CANNOT be reset, all scram valves CANNOT be opened OR control rods CANNOT be inserted with individual scram test switches or manual scrams.

The purpose of this section is to insert control rods with the Reactor Manual Control System.

1.

INSERT control rods with RMCS as follows:

a.

START both CRD pumps if available.

f b.

IF no CRD pump can be started. THEN CONTINUE in Flow Chart Hock ACRI-22 of this procedure.

c.

INCREASE flow controller setpoint to maximum.

d.

PLACE RWM NORMAL / BYPASS switch to "BYPASS."

e.

IF the REACTOR MODE SWITCH is in "SHUTDOWN " THEN PLACE the

~

EACT0A MODE SWITCH to "START & HOT STBY" position.

f.

INSERT control rods with the EMERGENCY ROD IN NOTCH OVERRIDE switch.

2.

WHEN all control rods ARE inserted to Position 00, ~THE., 'XIT this i

section and CONTINUE in Section 1 of this procedure 3.

IF all control rods CANNOT be inserted to Position 00, THEN EXIT Uiis section and PROIEED to Flow Path Block ACRI-22 of this

n Section 7 - Control rods CANNOT be inserted by manual scrams, individual scrna switches, OR RMCS.

The purpose of this section is to insert control rods by venting the overpiston area of any control rod NOT inserted to l

Position 00.

NOTE CRD vent rigs are located in the LEP toolbox on the 20 foot elevation in the Rehetor Building.

1.

INSERT control rods by venting the overpiston area of any control l

rod NOT inserted to Position 00 as follows:

a.

OBTAIN a copy of Control Rod Position Printout (OD-7, Option 2).

b.

CLOSE Withdrawal-Riser Isolation Valve, C11(C12)-102, for the control rod to be inserted.

c.

REMOVE vent plug on riser vent block for Drive Water Withdrawal Header Vent Valve, C11(C12)-F102, for the control rod to be inserted.

d.

INSTALL vent hose to floor drain.

e.

OPEN Drive Water Withdrawal Header Vent Valve, C11(C12)-F102.

2.

WHEN the control rod is NOT moving inward THEN PERFORM the

b.

REMOVE the vent hose from riser vent block.
