  • PLANT V0GTLE - UNIT 1 i NRC DOCKET 50-424 OPERATING LICENSE NPF-68 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION SPECIAL REPORT A. Requirement for Report This report is raquired in accordance with Plant Vogtle - Unit 1 Technical Specification, Section 3.3.3.6, Table 3.3-8 Item 15.

This section requires a special report to be submitted when steam line radiation monitor RE-13121 is inoperable for more than 7 days.

B. Description of Radiation Monitor Inoperability Steam line radiation monitor RE-13121 was removed from service on 5-11-88 in order to install radiation shields or, the check source per a design change. When it was determined that the shields were improperly sized and could not be installed, plant personnel attempted to return RE-13121 to service but were unsuccessful. An investigation involving testing the monitor has found several component problems.

Plant personnel are continuing to troubleshoot and repair these problems and believe that the monitor will be returned to service by June 15, 1988.
