5. CEI's current estimate of the direct cost that would

< be incurred in automating the SLCS is approximately $140,000.

This includes the estimated costs for engineering, construction

inside and outside the control room, material. completion and i

approval of procedures, and testing. This represents'a $40,000 increase over the estimate of $100,000 given by CEI in its l February 29, 1984, supplementary response to OCRE Interrogatory I

No. 22. The increase is primarily attributable to increased

costs of labor and material since that time, and to the additional i costs of retesting the SLCS and related systems at this advanced stage of construction.
