DELETE COMMITMENT TO RACK OUT REACTOR COOLANT SYSTEM VENT BREAKERS-Mr. Harold R. Denton, Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555 .

Dear Mr. Denton:

1 This letter is 1n response to an item in the Safety Evaluat1on (SE) attached to Mr. Steven A. Varga's letter dated August 31, 1983. The SE stated that the RCS vent system design is acceptable provided certain items were resolved. - One of the items involved the restoration of continuous control power to the RCS vent system by deleting the comm1tment to rack out the related oirouit breakers during normal operation. Continuous power is needed for vent valve position indication in the control room.

Pursuant to the requirements of your staff as presented in the SE, we hereby withdraw our commitment to rack out the RCS vent system breakers dur1ng normal operation.

This document has been prepared following Corporate procedures which incorporate a reasonable set of oontrols to insure 1ts accuracy and completeness prior to signature by the undersigned.
